Applicants hoping to adopt from Mongolia cannot be older than 60 and cannot regularly drink alcohol or use narcotics. If the child is at least 7 years old or older, he or she must first consent to be adopted before anything can be finalized. Mongolia also requires that any child adopted and taken to another country must be introduced to the Mongolian culture. One adoption was finalized in 2010.
